Preterists often tell us that the “parousia” mentioned in Matthew 24: 3 is not a personal coming of Christ, but a figurative and providential one. But does this really agree with the Scriptures? In this brief study, we explore the concept of Christ’s coming as the “Son of Man,” and what it implies. We conclude that the parousia vividly described in Matthew 24: 30 can only relate to a personal, visible coming of Jesus Christ. Obviously, this means that it is still future.
